SYANA Gurmat Retreat 2026 — Participant Agreement
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਿਹ
Welcome to the SYANA Gurmat Retreat 2026! We are so grateful to have you join us for this experience of Gurmat, community, and reflection. As with any such gathering, we each carry an equal responsibility to hold space with trust, respect, and cooperation. Please read this agreement carefully, sign, and return it prior to arriving at retreat. This is a commitment made between you and the SYANA sevadaars.
General Conduct
Heads should be covered at all times on the retreat grounds.
Attire should be Divaan-appropriate throughout the retreat. Please dress in a way that reflects the spirit of the space we are sharing.
All participants are expected to be present for every scheduled session, beginning with morning Nitnem.
Participant Commitments
By attending, I understand and agree to the following:
I will listen to and respect all fellow participants and sevadaars, regardless of gender, background, or experience level.
I will follow all program protocols and instructions given by the organizing team.
I will adhere to the facility rules of the retreat site.
I will remain on the campsite for the full duration of the retreat, unless explicitly approved by a sevadaar.
I will be present at my scheduled location at all times.
I will not use inappropriate or demeaning language.
I will not occupy common areas during quiet hours (11:00 PM to 4:00 AM), except in cases approved by the sevadaars.
I will not commit any of the four kurahits during the retreat:
Trimming, shaving, or removing hair from the body
Eating halāl or sacrificial meat of any kind
Consuming tobacco, alcohol, or recreational intoxicants of any type
Engaging in premarital or extramarital sexual relations
Respectful Environment and Removal Policy
SYANA is committed to maintaining a safe, dignified, and inclusive space for every participant. Behavior that demeans, disrespects, or marginalizes any individual, including but not limited to comments or actions that are sexist, discriminatory, or harassing in nature, is wholly incompatible with the values of this retreat and of our Panth.
If a participant's conduct is deemed seriously disruptive or harmful to others, the organizing team will consult internally and, if warranted, may ask that participant to leave the retreat immediately. This decision will rest with the sevadaar team and will be made with care, but without compromise on the safety and dignity of all present.
We ask that every participant take this commitment seriously. We are here to grow together, and that requires each of us to show up with humility and accountability.
By signing below, I confirm that I have read, understood, and agreed to abide by the terms of this participant agreement.
