In 1968, a couple in Windsor, Ontario began hosting small programs for Sikh youth out of their home. From those humble beginnings, an organization flourished that has inspired thousands of young Sikhs across North America.
What started as informal gatherings grew into structured camps, retreats, and symposiums, programs that have touched thousands of young lives over more than five decades.
S. Kuldeep Singh and B. Arminder Kaur begin running small Sikh youth programs from their apartment in Windsor, Ontario, planting the seeds of what would become the Sikh Youth Alliance of North America.
The first week-long Gurmat Camps are organized in Michigan, bringing youth together for Keertan, Paath, outdoor activities, and community. A tradition is born.
Programs expand to include the Speech Symposium and Gurmat Retreat. Former campers return as sevaadaars, building a self-sustaining cycle of leadership.
Over 55 years later, SYANA continues to serve Sikh youth with three core programs, the PanthFirst Scholarship, and a network of dedicated sevaadaars across North America.
Everything we do is rooted in Gurbani and the teachings of our Guru Sahibaan.
Building Guru-centered community that lasts a lifetime, across cities and generations.
Every program is run by sevaadaars who give their time, energy, and love.
Nurturing a Gursikhi jeevan in young Sikhs so they carry the Guru's message forward.
Our sevaadaars are the heart of everything we do. Many were once campers themselves, and they return year after year to give back to the community that shaped them.
From organizing camp activities to mentoring youth, their dedication keeps SYANA's mission alive.
